Fayes Video & Espresso Bar
It’s rare to find a coffee spot where you can get a latte under $5, but Fayes delivers. Not only do they serve wonderful coffee, but their location is also part video rental and gift shop. There’s not much seating inside, so get a cup to go en route to Dolores Park.
Tartine
Yes, it’s worth waiting in line for. Tartine has been the go-to spot for bread, sandwiches and pastries for decades, and it’s worth all of the hype. While it can get cramped quickly inside, try and snag one of their sidewalk tables, or get your order to go and enjoy it in the park one block away.
Dolores Park
This park is hands down one of the best features about the Mission. Since it’s so large in size, even when it’s packed on the weekends, you’re still likely to find a spare patch of green grass to set up camp. Bring your kids, plan a boozy afternoon meet up with friends, or bring a book and come solo - it caters to all. Make sure to pack a blanket aand enjoy the glorious sunshine and people watching.
Flour + Water
What sets Flour + Water apart from other Italian restaurants in SF is the unique flavor combinations in the dishes - everything is seasonal and often unexpected pairings but so delicious. The pastas are incredible and if you’re hungry enough, they offer a pasta tasting menu
This is extremely controversial, but I think San Francisco and the greater Bay Area has the best food. It goes beyond the incredible restaurants - the chefs put so much love and consideration into their craft, and genuinely care about sourcing locally and sustainably. There’s also real depth to the culinary diversity - Burmese, Szechuan, Guamanian, the list goes on. From the 3 Michelin starred spots to the cheap neighborhood go-to, I can always count on a great meal made from the finest local ingredients.
