North America

North America is… complicated. But there’s no denying that she’s a beauty, comprising forests, coasts, deserts, cities, and hidden gems. The continent stretches long from end to end, so it’s no surprise that it covers so much, or that Mexico’s Copper Canyon looks nothing like Alaska’s Mount Denali. What is surprising is how much of it can be overlooked by the locals. Sometimes we have to see it through the lens of a traveler to realize how vast and varied this corner of the world can be. Whether you've lived here all your life or are seeing it for the first time; whether you’re relaxing on a remote beach, hiking a fourteener, or checking the Grand Canyon off your bucket list, remember to let yourself get lost in amazement.

Vancouver

For a laid-back yet forward-thinking coastal city, Vancouver’s your spot. It doesn’t hurt that it’s nestled within the jaw-dropping setting of British Columbia; venture outside of town and you’re sure to like what you see. But there’s plenty to love within the city limits, from seafood and shopping to cycling and trail running, so be prepared to call your debut visit the first of many.

Chicago

When it comes to the hustle and bustle of a big city in the U.S., New York has an indomitable spot on the list – but if you miss Chicago, you’re missing out. This approachable Midwestern city sits upon one of the vastest lakes you’ll ever see, and it’s got plenty of tricks up its sleeve to give the Big Apple a run for its money. Just skip the deep-dish pizza to make sure you aren’t showing your hand as an out-of-towner.

Los Angeles

To a certain set of people – perhaps you, too – “the West Coast is the best coast” is more than a catchy turn of phrase. It’s a way of life, and it’s on display in no uncertain terms in the many, many nooks and crannies of LA. Head to the beach, head to the strip, head to the next hipstrict; whatever you do, just don’t skip the cultural capital of the Pacific coast. LA may be synonymous with show business, but it’s also a world-class destination for art, food, entertainment, and so much more.
